Jordin Sparks is gearing up for the Tuesday release of “Battlefield,” her second album, and the media blitz begins Monday morning with an appearance on Good Morning America (7 a.m., ABC).
Jordin will also be appearing on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (Monday, well, actually very early Tuesday at 12:30 a.m.), Live with Regis & Kelly (Tuesday, 9 a.m.), Entertainment Tonight (Tuesday, 7:30 p.m.) and the Today show (Wednesday, 10 a.m.).
Then it’s back on the road with the Jonas Brothers for Thursday and Friday shows at the Wachovia Center in Philly. Tickets are still available here.
As for the album, here’s what Jordin has to say in a new bio posted on her Web site Friday:
“We recorded several songs to make sure this is as good or better than the first album, because I have my own shoes to fill — and at size 11, they’re some mighty big shoes. This album has a little more attitude, but not to the point it isn’t still the same girl people know.”
The attitude is evident in “911 Emergency,” about a gal waiting impatiently for her boyfriend to show up. It’s one of four songs Jordin co-wrote for the album. That marks a first. She didn’t have a writing credit on her first album.
Those songs are also the final four on the album — “Was I the Only One,” “Faith” and “The Cure” in addition to “911 Emergency.”
The album also includes “S.O.S.” And, no, it’s not a cover of the old Abba hit.
This is a fun dance tune with a healthy dose of the Shannon hit “Let the Music Play” mixed in.
But expect PG-rated fun on this album. No “Love Game” antics from 19-year-old Jordin.
“I don’t talk about things I don’t know about: sex, drugs, rock ‘n’ roll,” Jordin said of the album in a recent interview. “I just talk about things that are kind of universal — love, friendship, things like that. I think the world needs to hear some of that … something good and something happy.”
So far, the reviews for “Battlefield” have been pretty good.
According to Jordin’s Web site, the album earned 3.5 stars out of 4 in a brief review from US magazine and 3 out of 4 in a People magazine review to hit newstands Tuesday.
Check back for more on the album after its release.
