American Idol returns to ABC Monday night with all the makings for an excellent Season 24.
Idol Chatter has been researching contestants who auditioned for the past month, and the casting department seems to have done a superb job.
I’d already like to thank producers for introducing me to the singer-songwriter music of Justin Koolik, Sophia Zamani and the musical duo Dorsten.
Not to mention the voices of Hannah Harper, Bryant Thomas, Daniel Stallworth, Seth Witcher, Angelina Remondino and Brantley Brown.
And I’m absolutely thrilled to see former Voice standouts Knydal (Inskeep) and Jacquie (Lee) among American Idol’s Season 24 auditions.
Kyndal has released wonderful music since Season 17 of that show. Jacquie was runner-up way back in Season 5 when The Voice was still a legit singing show. She’s clawed her way through lots of crap that came with being in the spotlight at such a young age (15) and has an impressive array of original music.
There will be changes on Idol in Season 24. Hollywood Week is gone. Instead, singers will gather in Nashville for the round after the auditions.
And unlike past seasons, it sounds like the Idol judges will make a massive cut after only one round of performances. Here’s hoping musicianship wins out over backstories and personalities.
This week, Idol also announced a new ’Ohana Round, which sounds like it will follow the Nashville round. Idol is calling it the ultimate focus group with the Top 30 contestants interacting with experts in music and social media.
Please, Idol, do not give us a two-hour episode without performances. It’s happened only one time in the show’s history, and it was a disaster.
Anyway, there will be three episodes from Hawaii, fan voting will begin and the field of contestants will be whittled down to a Top 20.
But first come four audition episodes, beginning Monday at 8 p.m. Below are links to nearly 50 contestant profiles. Head there to find info about each singer, including music they’ve already released. The singers we’ll likely meet Monday are in bold.

Amelia Eisenhauer is being allowed to cheat on “Idol.”
She made the Top 24 on Season 15.
She had gotten plenty of exposure that season.
She already has music released.
That’s unfair as she is taking someone else’s spot.
Welcome to the post-Arthur Gunn era of “Idol”
He placed second in Season 18.
Then, he was brought back by the producers in Season 19, where he placed seventh.
He took a semifinalist’s and finalists’ spots.
The show also allowed Alyssa Ragu on the show three times.
She had music released.
Twice she robbed another semifinalist.
