But this being Taylor, the show is calling her the Season 17 Mega Mentor, a term I’m pretty sure it’s never used before.

Taylor will coach all the teams heading into the Season 17 knockout round.

And, yep folks, if you missed the news, the knockout round is back, replacing the dreadful live cross battles the show staged during a dismal Season 16.

I can’t imagine Taylor’s participation coming cheap, so NBC’s willingness to make an investment of that sort after The Voice scored record low ratings in the spring seems like a positive sign.

This won’t be Taylor’s first appearance on the show. She served the same role back in Season 7.

She also performed on the Season 16 finale and, of course, has a new album to promote, that being “Lover,” which was number two on the Billboard 200 this week.

The Voice returns to NBC on Monday, Sept. 23, with blind auditions.
