Corey Curtis from American Idol Season 20
American Idol returns to ABC on Sunday, Jan. 27. Here’s more about Corey.
* He’s a 20-year-old singer-songwriter from the small town of Summerville, Ga.
* Corey’s already released four singles, “Nice Guys,” “Oh Aye,” “Beautiful Life” and “Good Morning Text.” Search for Cor3y Curtis to find the music on streaming sites.
* To date, the very catchy “Oh Aye” is clearly the most popular, with more than 120,000 streams on Spotify. There’s also a lyric video for that song, which you can check out below.
* In 2020, Corey submitted a video audition for The Voice. In it, he says music has been a “burning desire” for him for some time. He started playing drums at 10, guitar at 11 and piano at 12.
* At the time, Corey said he’d already written about 50 songs. He’s talked about releasing an EP on social media on a number of occasions. That hasn’t happened yet though he’s posted snippets of other originals.
* Prior to releasing his solo music, Corey was part of a Christian band called The Young Disciples with his brothers.
* He’s a graduate of Chattooga High School and was attending Georgia Northwestern Technical College as a business major when a local newspaper wrote a story about his debut single.
* In his Spotify bio, Corey says he has a simple goal for his music: “Just for someone to get something out of my music is all I want. I use the words I write in hopes of making someone smile, think of happy times or just feel better.”
