About Kim:
* The Voice didn’t show us a bio package on Kim, but she’s the founder and frontwoman for Legends of Summer, a highly successful, Boston-based event and wedding band. Legends of Summer was named Boston’s Best Wedding Band by The Knot in 2018 and already in 2019 and by Improper Bostonian Magazine in 2018.
* Kim told Voice Views the band plays four-six shows every weekend and is now her full-time job. In fact, they’re already booked through this year and most of 2020 already, she said. “We have an amazing following in the city of Boston and New England in general. But the absolute best places we play are in South Boston and downtown Boston in the historic areas.”
* Check out Legends of Summer’s playlists, and you’ll see that Kim is well prepared for a show like The Voice. That playlist ranges from Billy Joel’s “Piano Man” to Miley’s “Party in the USA” to Nelly’s “Hot in Here.” And, of course, many, many, many more.
* And, yep, “No Scrubs” is on the band’s playlist. “It is one of my favorite songs ever and TLC is one of my favorite artists ever,” Kim told Voice Views. “That song is on the album Fanmail that was one of the first CDs I ever purchased. Not only have I loved it for 20 years, but the attitude and message of the song really speak to me. It is just a fun powerful song that says I don’t need negativity in my life! I also chose it because I wanted to showcase my ability to rap and I thought that would set me aside from other contestants. And of course 90s R&B is EVERYTHING!!”
* Kim is a native of the Florida panhandle. She relocated to Boston in 2007 to attend Berklee College of Music where she majored in music education.
* Graduating in 2011, she was a member of other bar and wedding bands before forming Legends of Summer. She said she also busked on the subway platforms in Boston, playing piano and singing. Oh, and Kim also plays the saxophone.
* She also taught music in the Boston Public School System and at the School of Rock in Boston and Lynn, Mass. She had to put teaching on the back burner when Legends of Summer took off. “I always plan on going back because it’s a huge joy of mine to instill a love of music and people of all ages,” she said.* Kim said she never watched The Voice until one night when she was at a movie theater restaurant and the show was on the TV there. “It was the blind auditions,” she recalled, “and I saw a woman performing who was awesome and her tone reminded me a little bit of mine. At that point I thought ‘if she’s up there doing it, why can’t I?’ And I signed up for an artist account on the NBC Voice website right then and there.
* She attended open call auditions in Chicago in 2017 and Boston in 2018 with no luck. But a few months after the second audition, Kim said the show reached out to her about auditioning again.
* As for her decision to join Team Blake, Kim explained it this way: “Blake was really convincing and had me thinking about strategy. Although I have so much respect and love for Kelly Clarkson and I know we would work very well together, Blake reminded me that I am here to stand out. And I believe that I stand out on his team. Also he’s hilarious and I am kind of funny too and I thought we would have a good time together. I know I said that I might regret picking him (in a clip on the show), but I absolutely do not. The only regret I have is denying Kelly after she reacted the way she did!”

According to an “insider” at IDF there are going to be a couple more dumb twists on “The Voice” this season.
“In this round, two contestants from two different team compete each other and the public vote determines who will advance.
The Remix round…is a way to balance the teams after the Cross-battle. On it, coaches will again attend the performance of the contestants at the end, and each of them will press the red button to choose who will move to the next phase, just like in the Blind Auditions. Contestants who have more than one button pressed will be able to decide which team they want to stay in. Coaches may use a wildcard, which guarantees Supreme Power at the time of choice. If more than one of them presents the card, the priority will always be the team’s original coach. After all the performances, each coach can save one of the not chosen acts, and move them to its team. At the end of Remix each coach will have four, three or two contestants…for the following phase. There is a fast pass, where each coach can ensure that one of its contestants stays on its team for the next round.”
