Ashley Blaire from American Idol Season 20

Season 20 of Idol kicks off Sunday, Feb. 27 on ABC.

Here’s more about Ashley.

* She’s a 24-year-old Christian artist who writes on social media that “North Carolina raised me.”

* A resident of Gastonia, N.C., she also auditioned for The Voice in the past and posted her audition tape to her YouTube channel.

* She starts off that tape by expressing her love for her craft. “Without music, I do not know who I would be or where I would be. Music is my life. Music means everything to me.”

* And there’s lots of Ashley Blaire music you can check out already, including a five-song EP called “Seven Minutes” that she just released in early December. Below, you can check out “Healer,” a single released from that project.

* Ashley previously used the stage name B Ashley B and released lots of music under that name as well, including a 2020 album called “Grown” and an eight-song “Covers” collection from earlier that same year.

* “He Loves Me” from the “Grown” album was also selected for inclusion on the Christian album “The Promise: A New Journey.”

* Ashley attended Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina — she was a guard on the basketball team — and students there created a pair of dances to “Drop It Down,” another song from her “Grown” album. The dance routines are featured on Ashley’s Instagram page.
