Cole Ritter from American Idol Season 20
American Idol returns to ABC on Sunday, Feb. 27. Here’s more about Cole.
* Cole fronts the Nashville-based Cole Ritter and the Night Owls, a alternative country band founded in 2019.
* The band released a pair of impressive singles in 2021 — “Hard Times” and “All the Stars Across the Sky.” Check out the latter below.
* And more music is clearly coming soon. The band has scheduled an album release show for March 9 at 3rd and Lindsley in Nashville.
* The band also includes Alex Barcic, Tom Davis, Christian Starrett and Matt Martirano. And they won the 2020 Belmont Country Showcase. Cole is a music business major at Belmont University.
* In a summer interview with the Sidney Daily News, Cole said winning the Belmont showcase “made me realize this really was what I wanted to do with the rest of my life.”
* Cole, 21, grew up in Gallatin, Tenn., spent a lot of time in Houston, Ohio, and had relatives who nurtured his love of music. His great-grandfather taught him to play guitar. His grandmother on his mother’s side taught him to read music at a young age. He began learning instruments when he was just 3.
* By age 13, he joined a Christian band. One of his bandmates was Emma Harvey. She’s featured on a cover of “You Are My Sunshine” that the band recorded in 2020.
* And at 14, Cole opened a show for country star Lee Greenwood in Hendersonville, Tenn.
