Kenedi Anderson from American Idol Season 20

Idol returns to ABC on Sunday, Feb. 27. Here’s more about Kenedi.

* From Virginia, she’s one of just three contestants to be presented one of Season 20’s new platinum tickets, allowing her to skip a day of competition during Hollywood Week and select her duet partner. Kenedi earned her platinum ticket in Los Angeles.

* She has 12,400 followers and more than 240,000 likes on her TikTok, which is filled with covers.

* She has two videos there with more than 150,000 views, a cover of Tori Kelly’s “All in My Head” that shows off her vocal firepower and a cover of “Hopelessly Devoted” on which Kenedi writes: “Ok yes I know. Too many runs. They’re just so fun i’m addicted.”

* She also has a very mellow adult cat, considering the way it reacts to becoming part of a dancing video Kenedi posted in January.

* A self-described singer-songwriter, she posted her first original song in December 2020 and you can check out a snippet of it on her Instagram.

* On that Instagram page, she writes “music is life.” And in an already released Idol clip, she explains that she’s “been moving my entire life. It can get really lonely.” Music, she explains, is her therapy.

* She covered “Love on the Brain” with the Lafayette Bayou Boys at a 2019 Mardis Gras event in Washington, D.C., in 2019.

* She’s a contributing vocalist on one released track, “Serve the Lord” on a Christian album released by Strive to Be in December. Wow, what a vocal. Check it out below.
