Cadence Baker from American Idol Season 20

Cadence Baker is among the artists reported to audition for American Idol Season 20.

Season 20 of Idol kicks off Sunday, Feb. 27, on ABC. Here’s more about Cadence.

* She’s 19, was born and raised in Florence, Ala., and attended Florence High School.

* She began picking out notes on a piano at age 4 and is now a singer-songwriter, penning her own music, according to her bio for a July show in Florence.

* Cadence has used the stage name Cadence Nichole and has a YouTube account under that name.

* Head there and you’ll be able to check out two of her originals, “Peter Pan” and “The Play.” Check out the impressive “Peter Pan” below.

* The latter is a song she presented to her dad, Shane, as a Christmas gift a couple of years ago when she was just 15.

* In an August Facebook post, Cadence writes that she’s always been a fan of American Idol but was “always afraid to audition.” She adds: “NOT TODAY!”

* Her father is a musician too and was front man for several bands, including one called Cadence.

* And her grandfather runs a recording studio in Florence, was inducted into the Alabama Music Hall of Fame in 2020 and won a Grammy for co-writing the smash hit “I Swear,” released by country artist John Michael Montgomery in 1993 and covered by All-4-One the next year.
