Nicolina Bozzo from American Idol Season 20

Idol returns to ABC on Sunday, Feb. 27. Here’s more about Nicolina.

* She’s an 18-year-old independent artist from Toronto, Canada, who graduated from St. Elizabeth Catholic High School’s regional arts vocal program last spring.

* She’s developed a large fan base on her TikTok, where she has more than 200,000 followers and more than 3 million likes.

* In “A Good Night Situation” podcast, Nicolina says her TikTok popularity took off after she posted a “let’s make it spicy” version of “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch” in December 2020.

* Nicolina auditioned for the America’s Got Talent judges for Season 16, which aired this summer. But her audition wasn’t shown and she didn’t advance to the live shows.

* She says she’s been writing music since seventh grade and released her first EP in 2021, a three-song project called “Moving On.” Writes Nicolina on Instagram: “It’s a collections of all the songs I had previously released, except they are all brand new and how I envisioned them from the start.” Check out “Take Me Down” below.

* She played three roles in a performance of “Shrek The Musical” by Cue The Lights Productions and The Institute For The Performing Arts last summer.

* Nicolina has long been active in community theater, also performing in productions of Wizard Of Oz, High School Musical, Aladdin, Hairspray, Mamma Mia, A Killer Party and Grease, according to her Cue the Lights artist profile.

* Describing herself as “a theater kid,” she said her favorite Broadway shows are “Heathers” and “Waitress.”
