After The Voice

Adam Wakefield releases music video for a new original

Wakefield hasn’t released new music since finishing second on Season 10 of The Voice.

But the country-soul-rock artist just released a music video for an original song.

It’s called “When You’re Sober” and features a backing vocal by Jenny Leigh.

“I love songs where the writer doesn’t reveal the whole story until the last line of the chorus,” Adam told The Boot, where the video premiered earlier this week. “We perform this tune with the full band in my set, but it’s hard to really focus on the lyrics … but when we had the opportunity to do a stripped-down piano / vocal video at Skulls, I knew this was the perfect song for that reason.

No word on whether it will be released as a single, but Adam’s been working on a debut album, The Boot reports.

He’s been busy performing since The Voice, both with his pre-Voice band, The Copperheads, and with his own band.

Here’s what he says about his new music on Facebook.

“After putting this band together, putting these songs together and playing guitar out front, there’s a lot of rock & roll in it. I didn’t realize it was going to be like that, and while there’s a lot of straight-up old-school country influence, I think it’s going to be a great combination of rock and roll and country.”

In addition to Facebook, you can follow Adam through his website. On Twitter, he’s simply @adamwakefield.
