American Idol has a Top 10, but they won’t be able to rest on their laurels.

They face two more eliminations Sunday and Monday. And, this time, some fan favorites are heading home.

The past two shows didn’t exactly feature shock eliminations.

While all four singers sent packing shined at times, they were also the four singers who needed a judges’ save to make the Top 14.

On Sunday, two singers fans voted into the Top 10 will head home. Another singer will depart Monday, leaving Idol with a Top 7.

Sunday’s show will feature the Top 10 singing songs from their birth years. That means a song from 2009 for Triston Harper, the youngest remaining contestant at age 15. That means 1998 for Jack Blocker, the oldest at 26.

Sunday’s show will also feature Shania Twain as guest mentor and performances from to former Idol champs, Scott McCreery (Season 10) and Just Sam (Season 18).

For Monday’s show, each judge will pick a song for each member of the Top 8 to sing. The contestants will then select from the three songs suggested for them by the judges.

Monday’s show will also feature this wrinkle: Two contestants will be on the verge of elimination at the end of the night.

But the judges will save one of the two, leaving Idol with a Top 7 heading into the following week.

Idol will then cut back to one show per week, presumably cutting to a Top 5 on May 5 and then to three finalists on May 12, setting the stage for the May 19 finale.

Monday’s show will also feature a tribute to Mandisa, a former Idol contestant and Grammy winner who died last week at age 47.

Mandisa was found dead in her Tennessee home last Thursday. Police have ruled out foul play. A cause of death has not been disclosed.
