Jett Hermano, Season 12

Meet and hear Jett Hermano of American Idol

Here’s a personable young pop singer we haven’t seen nearly enough of on Season 12 of American Idol.

In fact, our only substantial introduction to Bridget Hermano — she performs as Jett — came on group night in Hollywood.

Jett Hermano is Vegas bound on American Idol. And her group, named Urban Hue, didn’t exactly sparkle, failing to jell on a rendition of “American Boy.”

Fortunately, you can get a better indication of what Jett is capable of by heading to her YouTube channel. She’s one of the most prolific YouTube artists among the remaining Season 12 Idol contestants, with a wide range of covers and some originals mixed in.

I’ve embedded three of those videos below.

Jett is 25, hails from Seattle, Wash., and admits in her Road to Hollywood video that she wasn’t always enthralled with the idea of becoming a singer.

“My mom forced me — forced me — to start doing voice lessons,” she says. “And I would cry. But now I love her for it.”

According to her Facebook bio, that would have been around the age of 10. By middle school, she was competing in talent shows. By 16, she was leading worship service at her church.

She began writing songs and, again according to that bio, released an independent album in 2006.

She also won a local Idol competition in Seattle, was a viewer’s choice winner on a local TV show called “Seattle’s Stars” and, at one point, opened a show at the University of Washington for Jasmine Trias, the third-place finisher from Season 3 of Idol.

Jett also told American Idol she turned down a full-ride scholarship to pursue music.

“A lot of people look at me and think I’m super small and this quiet little girl, but I have a lot of heart,” she says.

Now, here are those promised videos, the first a music video Jett released last summer. You can also hear some of her original music on her Facebook music page.
