What do you do if you’re a boy band looking for a breakout hit single?

Well, recording a song written by hit-maker Ed Sheeran isn’t a bad plan.

And that’s just what Why Don’t We — the pop group featuring former American Idol contestant Daniel Seavey — has done.

“Trust Fund Baby,” released by Atlantic Records, dropped late last week.

And it’s being well received. Tuesday night, the song was number 43 on the iTunes pop chart and number 121 on the overall singles chart. The song has already been streamed 1.3 million times on Spotify.

The song marks Why Don’t We’s first release of 2018 but follows a busy 2017 in which they released four EPs and five music videos. One of the latter made Idol Chatter’s list of best post-Idol music videos of 2017.

In addition to Daniel, the ninth-place finisher on Season 14, Why Don’t We includes Zach Herron, Jonah Marais, Corbyn Besson, Jack Avery.

And the band’s launching a 40-date tour later this month. It will include stops in Silver Spring, Md., on April 7 and Philly on April 10.

You can check out all the dates on the group’s website or Facebook page.
