Ramiro Garcia, Season 11

Meet Hollywood bound Ramiro Garcia

Ramiro Garcia says his rationale for auditioning for American Idol in Season 11 was simple.

He’s 28, meaning this is the last year he’s eligible.  Besides, Idol happened to land in his hometown of Houston, looking for aspiring singers.

And this aspiring singer has a unique story, probably the most unique we’ve seen so far this year on the show.

He was born without fully developed ears.  His parents were told he would never hear or talk.

Silly doctors.  By age 15 — albeit after a number of surgeries that started when he was 4 — Ramiro says he was singing in church.

“A bunch of us kids trying to be rock stars,” he admits, smiling.  “In church, of all places.”

Ramiro has been singing ever since, and his version of “Amazing Grace” on Thursday’s episode of Idol earned him a golden ticket to Hollywood.

Ramiro’s dad was understandably overcome with pride at watching his son shatter yet another obstacle.

As for the worship leader at Lakeland Church in Houston, Ramiro says he has a simple mission with his Idol journey.

“I believe I’m representing a lot of people out there who have been counted out, either because they have a disability or are just struggling or whatever,” he says.  “I want to inspire them to just fight through it.”

Now, here’s the worship leader in action.

“Your’s Forever”

“Nothing Is Impossible”
