After American Idol

Another magical moment from Haley Reinhart, Casey Abrams

all those memorable moments Haley Reinhart and Casey Abrams delivered on Season 10 of American Idol.

Well, they’re back with another: A new video featuring Haley’s cover of “Can’t Help Falling in Love” with Casey on piano.

Haley covered the song for a love-story-based Extra gum commercial earlier this year. Her version of the song has also been released on iTunes.

The commercial, truly heart-warming as commercials go, has been viewed more than 13 million times on YouTube. Haley’s song has sold more than 46,000 units, according to a story Billboard posted earlier this week.

Now there’s a new video for the song, featuring Haley in the recording studio, working out the arrangement with Casey and snippets from that commercial.

When she found out she’d be recording the song, Haley said she needed a pianist in short order. And she knew just who to call on, her Season 10 colleague from Idol.

“It was very organic,” Haley says in the Billboard interview. “We were in an intimate setting in the room, and we had candles and he was playing and we really had to make sure that we were in sync, timing-wise, so we had to be able to look at each other and kind of feed off each other’s energy and rhythm, so it was nice.

“I wanted to make it sound as if I was talking to or whispering to a loved one next to me, that kind of vibe.”

Casey, Haley and Season 14 Idol contestant Joey Cook has also been recording and touring with Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox.

The group has released four albums in 2015 alone, and you’ll find jazz covers of modern hits featuring all three of those singers, plus Season 6 Idol runner-up Blake Lewis. Haley’s covers include “Creep,” “Seven Nation Army” and “Oop, I Did It Again.”

for the tour, you can head here to check the dates. Just be aware that not all the singers participate in all of the tour stops.

According to the Billboard story, Haley’s also planning to release an EP of original material in the spring, which is great news. We haven’t gotten a substantial release from her since her under-rated post-Idol debut, “Listen Up,” in 2012.

Meanwhile, it’s really nice to see things working out for Haley. I still believe she should have been in the finals, if not the winner’s circle, on Idol Season 10. Her ascent from near elimination to third place was one of the show’s all-time best Cinderella stories.
