Determined to deliver a message of peace and in the wake of recent police shootings, former Voice contestant Brian Nhira turned to music of course.

On Friday, he posted an original song called “Flaws” to his Facebook page. So far, it’s been viewed more than 1,300 times and shared more than 1,000.

Brian told TulsaWorld.com that he and fellow Oral Roberts University grad Aaron Brave were actually writing separate songs as a reaction to what’s been happening around the country.

“Me and my friend, we just got tired of posting rants on social media,” Nhira told the site. “We got together to write one day and came out with something we’re proud of.

“We were seeing the hurt and the pain in the world and we were like, ‘This is our way of telling the world we need peace, we need love to abound in this time over anything.’”

The song comes on the heels of the shooting of Terence Crutcher in Tulsa, Okla., and Keith Lamont Scott in Charlotte, N.C., but the message is broader than that.

On Facebook, Brian writes: “We Wrote this song for Tulsa. We wrote this song for Charlotte. We wrote this song for AMERICA.
We wrote this song for ZIMBABWE. WE WROTE THIS SONG FOR EVERY HUMAN BEING.”

That message is pressed home in the song’s brilliant ending: “I’m singing for justice / Just label me a human being / And let that be the only thing / Everyone sees.”

You can check out the video on Brian’s Facebook page. No word yet on whether the song will be released for download. Keep your fingers crossed.

Brian, from Tulsa, was 23 when he auditioned for Season 10 of The Voice. He made it to the Top 24 as a member of Team Adam before being eliminated.

Pre-Voice, he released a 14-track album called Hope’s Stand” in early 2015. You can follow his on Twitter where he’s simply @BrianNhira and through his website.
