Unless I’m overlooking someone, Melanie Martinez just scored the best Billboard chart debut of any artist to come off The Voice.

Melanie’s debut album, “Cry Baby,” landed at number 6 on the Billboard 200 this week.

That’s the best of any new album on that chart this week.

Luke Bryan topped the chart with “Kick the Dust Up,” number one for a second straight week.

The only other Top 10 debut I can recall from a Voice artist came when Season 3 winner Cassadee Pope released “Frame by Frame,” which landed at number 9 on the Billboard 200 and number one on the country chart in October 2013.

In terms of actual sales, Billboard placed Melanie’s at 40,000 for week number one, which would put her just slightly behind Cassadee and Season 4 winner Danielle Bradbery. They moved 43,000 and 41,000 copies of their debut albums in the first week, respectively.

Besides Cassadee, other noteworthy Billboard 200 debuts for former contestants on The Voice:

* Danielle Bradbery: Number 19 on Billboard 200 in December 2013
* The Swon Brothers: Number 26 on Billboard 200 in October 2014
* Tessanne Chin: Number 41 on Billboard 200 in July 2014 with “Count on My Love”
* Dia Frampton: Number 106 on Billboard 200 in December 2011 with “Red”
* Javier Colon: Number 134 on Billboard 200 in November 2011 with “Come Through for You”

Of course, we never got debut studio albums from Season 2 winner Jermaine Paul or Season 6 winner Josh Kaufman.

And Craig Wayne Boyd, winner of Season 7, and Sawyer Fredericks, winner of Season 8, are still working on their debut releases.

Meanwhile, Melanie’s “Cry Baby” is continuing to perform well on iTunes.

As of Tuesday evening, it was number 21 on the site’s overall album chart and number four on the alternative album chart.

Anyway, if you know of anyone from The Voice who debuted higher, let me know. I might have forgotten someone, but I don’t think so.
