After The Voice

Christina Grimmie’s ‘ballad’ ends, but there’s still a movie coming soon

0
final video in “The Ballad of Jessica Blue” hit iTunes and Christina Grimmie’s Facebook page earlier today.

For those who haven’t been following, Christina plays a character named Jessica Blue, who is struggling with self-doubt and boyfriend issues as a musical showcase approaches.

Her mother encourages her to search for her voice, the one thing no one can take from her.

And Jessica (Christina) finds that voice just in time to impress with a performance of “Without Him” on stage at her all-important showcase.

The song, like the three that preceded it, comes from the excellent “Side A” EP Christina released earlier this year, before a crazed fan took her life while she was meeting fans following a show in Florida earlier this summer.

But here’s a bit of great news: This isn’t the last new material we’ll see from Christina.

Prior to her death, she filmed the role of Emily for a film called “The Matchbreaker.”

The movie stars Wesley Elder as a young man paid by parents to break up relationships they disapprove of.

He accepts the job of breaking up an aspiring singer named Emily and her boyfriend before realizing she’s “the Emily,” the girl he’s had a crush on since third grade.

The movie is supposed to hit theaters on Oct. 7.

Below, I’m embedding the trailer for the film, followed by the first three videos in the “Ballad of Jessica Blue.”
