Odell Bunton Jr. is among the artists rumored to have earned a golden ticket on American Idol season 22.

Idol returns to ABC on sunday, Feb. 18 with the coaching trio of Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan back intact.

Here’s more about Odell.

* He’s a 29-year-old Christian artist from Austin, Texas.

* And he’s familiar with singing competitions, having been a Top 20 contestant on BET’s Sunday’s Best in the summer of 2013.

* He’s also released music, including a single called “Look at Me Now” as BIG TWO4 in April.

* Along with a social media post showing that song was streamed 34,000 times in 2023, Odell writes: “I stepped out on faith with this music thing man and it has truly taken some real sacrifices. It’s been hard getting to this point and I’m so humbled, I’m honored and most of all I’m proud!”

* Odell also released an EP under his own name back in 2014, featuring a song called “Beautiful.”

* And he’s been promoting an album called “Recovery Mode.” But it doesn’t appear to have been released, and none of his social media posts talking about indicate a release date.

* Judging from his TikTok, Odell has struggled with depression. “You’re not alone. Depression is real. We got this!” he writes alongside the video.

* He’s also been a praise and worship leader, spreading the gospel through music at the Purpose and Destiny Center where his parents serve as pastors.

* According to a web bio, he began singing at the young age of 7.

* Odell’s been promoting his upcoming appearance on American Idol since December, writing “I believe that this is going to be the best season of my life because I decided to hold on to my dream!”
